Alec Baldwin made his long awaited return to “Saturday Night Live” this week, stepping back into his famed portrayal of President Trump at a press briefing during which he confesses that the presidency is just “a four- year cash grab.
The episode begins with Baldwin as Trump and Kate McKinnon as President Dalia Grybauskaite of Lithuania hosting a joint press conference.
Baldwin’s Trump details several recent headlines in the skit, including the reports that he personally congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin despite being instructed by his advisers not to do so.
“Before I turn over to these freakshows here, I just want to read a prepared statement to prove that I can read,” Baldwin’s Trump said. “Do not congratulate Putin.”
He then added: “Time to freestyle. First of all, a big congratulations to Vladimir Putin … even though no one’s been tougher on Russia than I am, including Hitler.”
Baldwin’s Trump also explained he was hoping to rush through the briefing because he’s, “got a lot of trade wars to escalate here.”
The skit also made a mockery of Trump’s recent feud with Amazon head Jeff Bezos, with Baldwin’s Trump confessed: “He’s way richer than me and he admits to being bald so I feel threatened on two levels.”
The press briefing concludes with Trump confessing that his presidency is a “cash grab.”
“I don’t care about America,” Baldwin says as Trump. “This whole presidency is a four- year cash grab and admitting that will probably get me four more years.”
